iPhotography Homepage — Mockup v3 (2026-04-28)

The photography club where you belong.

Real teaching. Real feedback. Real friendships. Since 2012.

iPhotography community collage — members gathered on a Photo Walk, studying with the course, sharing photos, and out shooting together. A real club in motion.
How it works

Three reasons the club works.

01 An iPhotography Member studying the Off Camera Flash Photography course on their laptop, camera in hand — learning and doing in the same moment.

Real teaching.

Courses with structured lessons, downloads, and assignments* — every one reviewed by our team of working photographers led by Stephen Walton.

Meet the tutors
02 A view of the iPhotography Member's Photo Gallery — member photos with Reviewed badges, star ratings, and real comment threads where Stephen Walton, the Head Tutor, replies to members by name.

Real feedback.

Feedback through course assignments and our Member's Photo Gallery. Every week our tutors review members' photos — what's working, what to try next. No algorithm. No silence.

Real friendships.

Photo walks and workshops in the UK and beyond. Start as strangers. End as friends — swapping numbers and planning the next one.

See where we've walked

Most online photography teaching ends with the video.
Ours carries on.

There's a difference between watching and belonging. After the course, a real tutor's still there to help. When you have a question, a member who's been here longer often answers first.

We've been built that way since 2012, and we're not changing it because the rest of the internet went the other way.

From auto mode to published landscapes.

Deborah joined iPhotography in 2018. She wanted to take, in her words, "something better than just snapshots" — to understand her camera and stop relying on auto mode. Years on, she's working in manual, entering competitions, and submitting her photographs for publication.

As Deborah puts it: "I've been lucky enough to have some published, and I don't think without the confidence iPhotography has provided I would ever have felt I'd be able to do something like that."

"Even when you're new, the feedback is always to help you improve. It's never to belittle or make fun of your photographs. It's such a friendly community."
Then Deborah's earlier landscape — Cuillin ridge with a small waterfall in the foreground under an overcast sky.
Now Deborah's recent landscape — long-exposure Glencoe sunset with Buachaille Etive Mòr rising into a moody amber sky.

Common questions

Things people ask before they join.

If your question isn't here, drop us a note and a real person will reply.

Is this for total beginners?

Yes. Photography for Beginners is the most-joined course we run, and most members who start it are picking up their first DSLR or mirrorless. The free 60 Second Photographer is gentler still — thirty lessons of one minute each, about thirty minutes in total. In fact, all our courses are designed with beginners in mind — even the specialist ones start from the basics and build up. You don't need any experience to start.

Do I need an expensive camera?

No. Compact, bridge, DSLR, mirrorless — the courses work with whatever you've got, as long as you can change the settings (aperture, shutter speed, ISO). Gear is the smallest part of the puzzle. We teach the photographer, not the camera.

What's the difference between a course and PLUS+?

A course is a one-off purchase you keep forever — structured lessons, assigned work, tutor feedback, lifetime access, no expiry. PLUS+ is the monthly membership on top: Photo Review videos broadcast every two weeks, live streams, priority tutor replies, members-only contests. Most start with a course; many stay through PLUS+.

Do real tutors actually look at my photos?

Yes. Every assessed assignment in Photography for Beginners is reviewed by an iPhotography tutor — written notes on what's working and what to try next. PLUS+ members get regular tutor feedback on the photos they upload to the gallery. We've been built that way since 2012.

Can I learn at my own pace?

Yes — every paid course is lifetime access, no expiry. Some work through Photography for Beginners in a few weeks, others take longer. The club's pace is the member's pace.

Where are you based?

Online — built in the UK, with members across the UK, US, Canada, Australia, and beyond. The courses work wherever you are — and we have workshops all over the world too.

Come and join us.
